Cambodia Casinos
There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that contains a number of comforts in addition to the gambling hall, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 tables.
